Marshalls JFC vs. Woolton Sharks - 28/3/10
An excellent match, good all round performance. Woolton Sharks had 3 great chances & they could have been out of sight by half time, but the Sharks just didn't get the rub of the green today. Will McGlade hit the cross bar & James Woods hit the post. We didn't deserve to lose today, we were by far the better team, but credit to Marshalls who deserved a goal from the poor defending of the Sharks defenders. A cross from the left wing, which was jammily steered into the back of the net!
Magnificent all round team performance, but a special mention to Luke Thompson, who played great in goal the second half.
Unlucky Sharks!

Woolton Sharks vs. Recs Roby - 14/2/10
After our recent loss to Recs Roby, we were optomistic and hopeful about today's game, but midway through the first half, that hope started to dwindle away because a lack of defending by our side let them in for a goal. Though they got a goal, we didn't let our heads drop, we kept battling and went into the break level after a great run by Dylan Lang to put Daniel Turner through on goal to slot it past the keeper.
Half time, 1-1, playing well, containing Recs Roby. Going into the second half, we had most possession, but we weren't doing much with it because the wide men were starved of service. We had our chances, but just couldn't convert.
Into the closing stages of the match, we fell apart and let Recs Roby in twice. The match finished 1-3. Unlucky Sharks

Oasis vs. Woolton Sharks - 7/2/10
Today's match against top of the league Oasis was one that, before the second half, we thought we could get something out of.
We came out all guns blazing, putting pressure on the Oasis defence, until a lack of our own defending, led to their first goal, which was a bit of a scramble. In the first half, we were the better team and could have gone into the break 2-0 up, but it was not to be. All round excellent play, the game from the Sharks was pass after pass after pass, which at one point pierced the Oasis defence and gave us a chance, which wasn't put away and that, really, cost us the game.
Lewis Foster, Sam Walkington, Joseph Davenport & Dylan Lang were to name but a few, the best players on the team yesterday. Lewis with his cutting edge passing, Sam & Dylan with great challenges and defending and Joseph for his great strength and agility.
Unlucky Sharks but well done.

Team Oasis vs. Woolton Sharks - Postponed
Due to more adverse weather conditions, today's match has been postponed. This postponement is rather unfortunate because if the game was to go ahead, we would have been playing against one of our former players. Let's hope for better weather next week!

The Robbie Turner Man Of The Match Award vs. Recs Roby - 24/1/10
Firstly, good to see Daniel get on the scoresheet on his return, it was his 11th goal in Sharks' colours. The team have really missed his drive from midfield and were really lifted by his goal today. Still needs to stamp his authority a bit more but the old spark is still there. Keep it up!
Woolton Sharks vs. Recs Roby - 100th Game - Cup - 24/01/10
After a long break, good to see a performance like that. Everyone played well.We were comfortable and creating chances until 10 minutes before the end and then we fell apart.
We played well for the first ten minutes and then a lack of marking for a corner led to the first goal to todays opponents. After that set back, our heads never went down, we battled hard and got the equaliser just before half time, a great goal it was too by the returning Daniel Turner. So, we went in to the break level at 1-1, we were happy and the whole team were rampant.
Second half, manager Paul brought on 2 substitutes, inspired ones they were too. James Woods was brought on for Liam Anderson and Will McGlade was taken off and replaced by Luke Thompson and with only 3 minutes gone in the second half, shot, which rebounded to Lewis Foster who hit it powerfully first time to make it 2-1. At that stage, I think we thought we had it in the bag. We switched off and let them back into it. Two goals in the space of two minutes meant we were behind to two very soft, avoidable goals. The final goal, for them, which made it 2-4, was another very poorly marked corner, the man at the back post left unmarked to slot it home... To be fair though, their 'keeper kept them in the game, pulling off several blinding saves. I think their keeper was the difference today.
Great all-round performance but unlucky Sharks!

Football Update
Due to the adverse weather conditions and the Christmas break, there has been no football for the past few weeks. Hopefully now, as the weather conditions clear up, there will be some action.
