The Robbie Turner Man Of The Match Award vs. Oasis - 22/11/09

The whole team deserved man of the match today after a great performance. Liam Bonner got it after a great performance in defence. Keep it up Liam, well done.

Woolton Sharks vs. Oasis - Replay - 22/11/09

Disappointing. Today's game could have gone either way, unfortunately, it never went our way. It could have so easily been 3-0 to us.

Taking nothing away from Oasis, they were a great technical side. The state of the pitch evened up play and the 1st half saw us with most of the possession and chances. We battled hard, but they capitalised on their first real chance with the ball bouncing to their spare man on the back post. Could have been two at half time but 'keeper Josh Dodd stopped a jubious one on the line. It was 1-0 at half time, then a change at the break brought us out  the other side under the kosh, but when Joseph got brought back on, it gave us more presence up-front and balanced the side up. The game become more open but we couldn't capitalise on our chances. Oasis, however were more clinical in their finishing and seemed to have more options in their attack.

All that said, a great performance by the Sharks with some good covering and some exceptionally brave 'keeping by Doddy!

We missed Alex today, he may have made a difference. Happy birthday Alex. Well done Sharks

The Robbie Turner Man Of The Match Award vs. Woolton Wolves - 15/11/09

Virtually the whole team were value for money today for man of the match. Everybody made a contribution but the final decision was that it went to Josh Dodd, who kept us in in the match when we were up against it defensively. Quick thinking and quick feet were the key to his performance today. Excellent Josh, keep it going!

Woolton Wolves vs. Woolton Sharks - 15/11/09

Derby day and something to prove. Beaten 3-0 last time, we had to win today, there was bragging rights at stake. The match started off pretty even with no team really taking charge. Down to a lack of communication and terrible defensive headers, time after time we allowed them in only to score the first goal against the run of play. We never let our heads drop, it was business as usual and we were presented with opportunity after opportunity. Finally, after constant pressure, Lewis Foster hit a cross come shot to the back post which seemed to evade everybody, Liam Anderson followed in to hit the rebound across the 'keeper which was fumbled in.

Second half was a totally different story. Virtually one way traffic, the only chances they had were the ones we gave them through bad defending. They were restricted to a few goalmouth scrambles and long rangers which on another day would have flown in if Doddy wasn't at the top of his game. As the Wolves struggled to get a foot-hold in the game, they left themselves vulnerable at the back which we exploited via a through ball from Lewis Foster which Joseph got to first and turned the last defender near the half way line. He still had loads of work to do and maybe too much time, but single mindedly, he charged at goal with the 'keeper standing tall, and rifled a looping shot over the 'keeper high into the net.

James Woods and Alex Gallager came on and made a contribution to the victory. Very much a team performance today, which was a stark contrast to our defeat earlier this season. Well done Sharks.

The Robbie Turner Man Of The Match Award vs. Woolton Academicals - 8/11/09

Today's man of the match decision was a real toughie for manager Paul to decide after such a great team performance. In the end after a lot of thinking, the man of the match award went to Lewis Foster. The award was thoroughly deserved after 2 weeks out through illness, he played his socks off! Although the award could have gone to any one of the 8 players on show today.

Well in Lewis, keep it up.

Woolton Sharks vs. Woolton Academicals - 8/11/09

Woolton Sharks had the best of the game, they had most of the possession, with the Academicals having about 2 touches in the whole of the first half. The Sharks were passing it around the Academicals throughout the first half, and the possession finally paid off, about 5 minutes before the break, Lewis Foster provided a ground pass for Will McGlade to slot the ball home.

This was a team performance and we went in to the break with a 1-0 lead. A lapse in concentration just after the break let the Academicals in to equalise the tie, but soon after, we retook the lead after some great skill by Joseph Davenport to put us 2-1 ahead. That was how the game finished, but in the end it was a thin line win. We pulled through by the skin of our teeth, but, just like a coachload of mathematicians, they all count. At least that's another win on the board.

Well played Sharks!
