The Robbie Turner Man Of The Match Award vs. Warner Vale - 25/10/09

Will McGlade was selected as today's man of the match after scoring us the goals to win the game. Keep it up Will, well in!

Woolton Sharks vs. Warner Vale - 25/10/09

Yes!

Another win, only our third of the season, but they all count.

Straight from the first whistle to the last, the Sharks were in control of the game, apart from a few mishaps, the whole team played well. It was surprising how good players adapted to their positions as we had key players missing. Hopefully this will be the turning point to our season. A minor mishap in the second half led to Warner getting a goal to even the scores but late on we wrapped the game up with a great goal by Will McGlade.

For our first goal, it was a great free kick by Will McGlade, who then went on to score a second and win it for us.

James Woods was today's man of the match, with a stella performance once brought on by the manager Paul at half time. Well done Woodsy, keep it up!

Woolton Sharks vs. NWLL - 18/10/09

What a shambles! Does anybody know their position or what that position entails? It certainly didn't look like that today. First things first, we were heavily beaten 6-1 by a team we beat last time out. Today's performance was more than unacceptable, very few players knew their positions. We were outplayed, out passed, outthought and outpaced. This was by far the worst performance we have had all season... and coming back after a win, it best be sorted!

We thought there was glimmer of hope when Joseph Davenport clawed a goal back, but it still wasn't enough.

Poor performance all-round!

The Robbie Turner Man Of The Match Award vs. Dunlops Cubs - 11/10/09

After a great performance by the whole team today, it was a hard decision for manager Paul to pick man of the match. In the end after a lot of thought and deliberation, he decided. Paul picked defender Liam Bonner as his man of the match for today after a great defensive display. Well done Liam, keep it up!

Dunlops Cubs vs. Woolton Sharks - 11/10/09

Both teams started off equal. The Sharks then started to take the initiative and get on the front foot. After about 10 minutes of the first half, we broke the deadlock, Joseph Davenport with a a shot that rifled into the left hand corner of the net. We won the game despite having some notable absentees including Will McGlade but today was a team performance, players in the midfield were the key to our success, Lewis Foster and Alex Gallager forming a partnership second to none. Though, you do have to give Dunlops some credit, they tried their best defensively to keep us out, but it turned out we were too strong for them.

About three minutes into the second half, we broke through the Dunlops defence again, this time it was a goalmouth scramble with James Woods eventually poking it home from around three yards. We nearly had a third goal when Alex Gallager after some fancy footwork carved an opening, but unfortunately the resulting shot was parried around the post by the Dunlops 'keeper.

All in all an fair game. Well done Sharks!

The Robbie Turner Man Of The Match Award - 4/10/09 vs. Prescot Cables Panthers

Only played the second half but made the difference against a technically superior team. Great control, great passing made Alex shine today, his reading of the game really gelled the team second half and we attacked more than we defended.

Woolton Sharks vs. Prescot Cables Panthers - 4/10/09

Started off badly, just got worse. Disorganised is an understatement, poor marking, poor defending and lazy tackling more or less summed up the first half. A curious starting line-up left us inbalanced through the spine of the team, that coupled with some fundamental errors gifted them the first three goals of the half. 0-3 at half time was a pretty fair reflection, they outplayed us, outpassed us and kept us pinned in our own half. We were restricted to a few long range shots which on other days would have flown in.

The second half was a completely different story. A change in midfield helped us compete for possession and presented plenty of spurned opportunities. Will McGlade, looking lively on the wing, came close a few times and finally opened his account with a well worked team goal. Just as things looked about to turn in our favour, an unforced error (literally)  handed them a penalty which was dispatched competently. The fifth followed shortly after, before we settled. Lewis made up in part for his earlier error by scoring off his shoulder.  The chances were there for us to take but alas, it was not to be. Their keeper made some outstanding saves and could well have been the difference between the sides.

The ref did us no favours, some of his decisions were suspect to say the least, however this defeat was of our own making and we only have ourselves to blame! We need to improve in all departments, passing, movement and communication were all lacking today. Will and Alex played particularly well. Joseph was unlucky to beat the keeper only to see the ball bounce back off the post. Lewis had a screamer headed for the top corner tipped around the post. Plenty of positives to take from the game but they were heavily outweighed by the negatives.
